A shop holds the thing for you, you pay a little at a time, and you take it home when it is paid. The design is an old shop hang tag on a string, a deep oxblood tag with the lettering knocked out of it. The fine print reads DEPOSIT PAID: every day. BALANCE DUE: time. It says you are already paying, and nobody expects the whole sum at once. The dream has not been cancelled. It is reserved, with your name on it.
